Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil Review

Hey guys, today's review will be on the Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil.

As you may have already known, including a facial oil in your skincare regime is all the hype right now for their huge skincare benefits. And let's be honest, it is worth the hype.

Facial oils are great alternatives for moisturizers if you find that your current moisturizer isn't quite doing its job in helping to maintain a healthy balance of natural oil on your skin.

If you have a combination/ oily skin type and is interested but concerned about adding a facial oil into your routine, keep on reading as this oil will most probably work for you.

Selling in Sephora at $72, 50ml

-Firms
-Hydrates
-Protect against free radicals
-Anti aging moisturizer
-Increase collagen synthesis
-Contains omega 6 & 9 to deliver moisture deep within the skin

Day: 2/3 drops prior makeup
Night: 2/3 drops as moisturizer
Others: Add to moisturizer or foundation to boost hydration

As you can see the consistency of the oil is not super runny but slightly thicker compared to some other oil.

I usually use roughly 3-4 drops of oil and pat it into my skin after applying toner and serum. The number of drops depends on how much moisture your face needs.

Bare Face
I have a combination skin type, oily mainly around my T-zone and nose area. And currently I also have several dry areas around my recovering acne marks I got from my Bangkok visit.

Upon instant application

Since the Tsubaki  Beauty Oil is a dry oil, it is light-weight and absorbs quickly. As you can see after instant application (4 drops), the oil leaves a dewy finish to the skin letting it feel very moisturized and comfortable. It will take the oil about 2 minutes to sink into the skin completely.

My flaky dry patches instantly feel so much more comfortable. You know the feeling of itch due to your skin being too dry? This will get rid of it immediately.

Underneath Foundation

As you can see, this is how my makeup looks with the oil underneath.
My skin does not look oily or overly dewy at all.

Close up

Although the oil was able to hydrate my face, it wasn't enough to moisturize the dry patches around my acne scars and caused the makeup to look flaky on top.

So I will be heading out and let's see how the Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil performs!
*Pictures taken with iPhone

This is how my face looks during mid-day, I've worn the makeup for around 5 hours. I love how the makeup is still holding up very well along my T-Zone and it's not as oily as it usually would be.

Here's a zoomed in image. As ya'll can see, the dry areas are getting nothing but flakier. However the area around my nose is holding up really well. I am actually super impressed as that area is where my makeup most often separate due to over production of sebum. I love the dewy look it gives!

10 hours have passed and as you can see I've gotten slightly oilier then this afternoon. But the area around my T-Zone is still intact despite the additional shine. You can see the makeup have kind of faded around my mouth area but that's due to the scratching I did all day.

Overall, I have to say I am quite happy with how this product performs. Over the usage of around 3 months, it has indeed helped me with my skin texture and also balanced out the oil on my skin. Now my face isn't as oily as before and is leaning more towards normal.
By mid-day I usually don't find my face as oily as it usually is and my makeup would hold up a lot stronger and don't break up on me. However, it may not be hydrating enough for dry patches on the skin, so I would have to add more drops specifically to those dry patches for intensified hydration.

Pros
- Hydrating
-Anti aging benefits
-Balances out skin's sebum production through the day
-Fast absorption
-Can go a very long way

Cons
-Not hydrating enough for flaky skin
-Expensive
-sticky texture some may not enjoy

Normal Skin:   -Recommended-
* You can choose to use the oil before makeup or mix it with your foundation. The oil will most probably work well with your skin, however if you are one that have a particular preference for scent or texture, you may want to try it out at a Sephora before making a purchase.

Combination Skin:   -Recommended-
* As a person with combination skin, I found the best way to use the oil is by using 4 drops spread all over the face and 2 additional drops applied specifically to drier areas to reduce flakiness. If you are uneasy by the idea of using an oil, don't be! It will really change your makeup game.

Oily Skin:   -Recommended-
*However if you are new to oil, you will still feel a layer of 'something' over your skin, that just means your skin is moisturized. However if you dislike feeling something sitting on your skin, you can go in with 1-2 drops of oil first then slowly increase when you are comfortable. Give your skin time to adjust and hopefully transit from an oily skin type to a combination/ normal skin type.

Dry Skin:   -Recommended-
*Usage of 4-5 drops (or more) is recommend. Just allow it to set for a bit before going in with the base makeup. I would suggest you mix 1-2 drops into your foundation for boosted hydration through the day.

Very Dry Skin:  -Not Recommend-
*This oil is not enough to hydrate very dry and flaky skin. You would need to use a lot of product each time making it not worth the price.
